While the ANC managed to overtake the DA on Gauteng’s result board on Thursday, the margin of its lead overnight has shrunk slightly, with just over 38% of the vote so far.

The DA is not lagging too far behind, at just over 28% of support.

But the real battle has been between the EFF and the MK Party, which were neck and neck throughout the day.

After overtaking the red berets on the national board, the newcomers threatened to do the same in Gauteng, but the EFF has slightly widened its gap to maintain its third spot overnight.

Forty-six percent of the Gauteng vote has been captured so far.
