JOHANNESBURG - ActionSA has blamed the emergence of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party for its poor performance in the elections.
The party has collated data from its party agents and said it would finish with less than 2% in each of the three ballots.
The party was very frank and said that these results were very disappointing.
It said that Jacob Zuma's MK Party had not just stunted its own electoral growth but that of many other parties.
ActionSA presidential candidate, Herman Mashaba, said that the MK Party was benefitting from the same anti-African National Congress (ANC) sentiment that his party enjoyed in the 2021 local government elections.
"But one thing that we missed seeing was the emergence of the MK Party. It took all of us by surprise, I think no one can dispute the effect of the MK, the party of a former president, something that I don't know has ever happened anywhere else in the world but in our particular case it has happened and it has impacted on our performance."
Mashaba said that he was encouraged that the ANC looked set to lose its majority nationally and in Gauteng.
