MAHIKENG - ActionSA North West premier candidate Kwena Mangope says there are many lessons to be learned from the apartheid-era Bophuthatswana government.
Kwena is the son of the late Bantustan leader, Lucas Mangope.
Eyewitness News recently reported that the deteriorating state of Mahikeng has led to residents - across racial and class divides feeling nostalgic for the Bophuthatswana government.
Kwena said this was because things worked during that time.
“I believe the most impactful contribution my father made was to make people realise they have to do things themselves. The only thing government has to do is provide an environment which is enabling for people who want to start their own businesses.”
