CAPE TOWN – In the Western Cape, the Democratic Alliance (DA) is still streaking ahead, with the African National Congress (ANC) in second, and the Patriotic Alliance (PA) in third.
Votes are being counted at a steady pace, and the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) seems to be making good headway.
The DA continues to cement their lead in the province, with just over 50% of the votes so far. The ANC is in second with slightly more than 20%, and in third the PA, who have taken about 11% of the votes in the province.

Earlier, IEC provincial head Michael Hendrickse said officials were aiming to capture half of the votes in the province by midnight on Thursday.
