JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has cast his vote.

Surrounded by his security detail and a huge media presence, Ramaphosa voted alongside the first lady Dr Tshepo Motsepe in Chiawelo, Soweto on Wednesday morning.

The president said he was impressed by how the voting process was unfolding.

“I am very delighted to be here, of course with my wife, to come and vote in the township where I grew up, with the permission of the IEC [Electoral Commission of South Africa]. So it’s wonderful to arrive here to meet so many people who are coming to vote.”
