Water supply at the hospital was cut, leaving healthcare workers and patients at risk of infection.
The lack of water supply is the main reason many people are queuing at the polls on Wednesday.
In 2023, it was nearly impossible to ignore the mephitic scent that swept through the corridors of Jubilee Hospital due to the lack of water supply.
Both outpatients and inpatients feared the worst, and a year since the outbreak, they said nothing has been done.
An elderly woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, explained the steps she takes when she visits the facility: “I don’t drink water at the hospital, I take my own wipes to use when I’m there and I buy water and consume it at home.”
Some nurses and general staff who spoke to Eyewitness News said the situation has not improved despite the restoration of water.
