‘Super Size Me’ documentary maker Morgan Spurlock (53) dies of cancer

Spurlock won numerous awards for the documentary in which he only ate at McDonald’s for a month.

Documentary maker Morgan Spurlock has passed away at the age of 53. 

Spurlock's family confirmed he passed away in New York from 'complications of cancer'. 

He is known for directing the films ‘Where in the World is Osama bin Laden?’ and ‘Super Size Me’, where he famously ate only McDonald’s for a month, tracking the effect on his physical and mental health.

‘Super Size Me’ was nominated for best documentary at the Academy Awards and was credited with raising awareness of the US obesity crisis. 

 The sequel, ‘Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken’ was released in 2017.

In it, Spurlock runs a fast food joint to analyse how the industry has changed since the first film.
