JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said he had not been notified about an incident where the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) said the provincial premier candidate was accosted by armed men dressed in police uniforms at the weekend.

According to reports, the party said that Thami Ntuli's convoy was pushed off the road and detained by the men, even though they provided no identification, calling for an investigation.

Mkhwanazi was asked about the allegations when he met with members of the media in Durban on Tuesday.

"The incident you’re talking about, I’ve not been made aware of. So, I do hope whoever feels the police have done them wrong, they’ll approach perhaps IPID and report it or they'll come to us as the leadership of the police and inform us. Until now we’ve not been informed."
