Police ramp-up security ops for polls with the opening of NatJOINTS centre

JOHANNESBURG - With just five days to go before elections, police have ramped up their security operations for the polls.
Police Minister Bheki Cele has officially opened the NatJOINTS Coordination Centre in Pretoria.
Cele said that the centre was fully equipped to ensure a smooth election next week.
The centre will be used for information coordination and to report election-related incidents.
Cele said that the facility would also be utilised after the elections.
"There is no doubt that fit-for-purpose facility will remain conducive to the effective functioning of the NatJOINTS and the facility cluster as a whole."
