JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed the anti-corruption legislation making the National Prosecuting Authority's Independent Directorate permanent.

Ramaphosa signed the bill into law at a public ceremony at the Union Buildings on Friday.

He simultaneously signed the anti-GBV bill into law, which he said would help bring an end to the crimes committed against women and children.

Ramaphosa said this bill gives the ID powers to hire investigators who will focus on corruption-related matters.

"Permanent criminal investigators will be appointed and they will have full police powers. The directorate will be able to reap the benefits of collaboration with the private sector and other social partners."
