Two JMPD officers recovering in hospital after foiling business robbery

JOHANNESBURG - Two Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officers are recovering in hospital after foiling a business robbery in Marshalltown on Tuesday night.
The officers responded to a business robbery in progress where they were met with gunfire by two armed suspects.
The department said both officers sustained serious injuries, while one of the suspects was arrested and the other fatally wounded.
“Two firearms were recovered from the scene. A case of business robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms has been opened at Johannesburg Central South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation.
“The Johannesburg metropolitan police department commends the swift response from the officers and we wish both injured officers a speedy recovery,” JMPD spokeperson Xolani Fihla.
