DURBAN - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday led a march over a range of issues affecting service delivery in the City of eThekwini.
These include water scarcity, raw sewer spillages at sea, unmaintained public infrastructure, and rampant unemployment.
Party leaders have attributed the mounting woes to a lack of leadership from an African National Congress (ANC)-led government.
EFF supporters painted Durban’s busy West Street red as they marched over service delivery issues.
Party secretary-general, Marshall Dlamini, spoke to Eyewitness News: "It is collapsing because it has incompetent people. The issue is incompetence, more than anything."
He said if elected after next week’s polls, the party would make some changes.
"The first thing we would do as the EFF is to put competent people [in]. How do you fail to fix a pipe? The problem is that they don’t even know where those pipes are. They don’t know the infrastructure. The infrastructure is not maintained."
The party is also using the march to canvass for votes ahead of the national and provincial elections.
