JOHANNESBURG - Two people have been killed following a multi-vehicle accident involving three trucks and seven cars in Bedfordview, Ekurhuleni.

The accident on the N12 on Monday afternoon has resulted in the temporary closure of the motorway.

Seven people were medically treated by paramedics before being transported to various hospitals in Ekurhuleni.

Officials say the crash site is still an active scene with traffic officers still working.

"We have identified two patients who unfortunately lost their lives and seven others had to be transported by various emergency services to hospital. The cause of the accident is still unknown," said Ekurhuleni EMS spokesperson Willaim Ntladi.
