DURBAN - African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa said the party is not losing sleep over the battle for KwaZulu-Natal as the 29 May elections draw closer.

The province continues to be a battleground for political parties in the race to woo the electorate in the country’s second biggest voting bloc after Gauteng.

Over the past several days, the governing ANC has deployed its full strength in KwaZulu-Natal in an attempt to eliminate any opportunity for its political adversaries to challenge its narrow lead in the province on election day.

Speaking on the sidelines of the ANC’s campaign trail in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday, a confident Ramaphosa hit back at naysayers.

"Once ANC supporters come out in their millions, we’re absolutely certain of clear victory here in KwaZulu-Natal and elsewhere in the country. I’m not losing any sleep about the strength of our support in KwaZulu-Natal. I know that the people of KwaZulu-Natal love the ANC and we’re going to prove it once again to all."
