CAPE TOWN - Western Cape government authorities have revised the number of construction workers who were on site when a building collapsed in George.

They say 62 artisans were working on the incomplete building and not 81.

All of them have now been recovered - 33 died in the tragedy and 10 are still in hospital.

Rescue and recovery operations have also concluded and the site has been handed over to the labour department to continue with its investigation.

Premier Alan Winde said South Africans deserved to know what happened and what steps needed to be taken to hold those responsible to account.
