2 men arrested for Soshanguve hijacking yet to be linked to Ditebogo Phalane's murder

JOHANNESBURG - Two men arrested following a deadly hijacking in Soshanguve are yet to be linked to the murder of five-year-old Ditebogo Phalane.
Phalane was shot when a group of armed men hijacked his father outside their home in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, a week ago.
The two suspects appeared separately in the Soshanguve and Pretoria Magistrate Courts on Friday morning.

The two men arrested by police on Wednesday have not been charged with the little boy’s murder.
So far, they are each facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
"At this point, the two accused persons are not linked to the killing of the five-year-old in Soshanguve. However, investigations are ongoing," said National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana.

She said that the accused cannot be identified until an identity parade is conducted.
“Media and the public were not allowed inside the court today because further investigations still need to be conducted, like identity parade, in order not to compromise the investigations of the case."
Both matters were postponed to Monday and Tuesday respectively.
