Papa Penny ditches ANC for Zuma’s MK Party: 'There's no divorce without problems'
The musician and reality TV star told Eyewitness News that he is now an MK Party member, after he resigned from as a councillor and member of the ANC earlier this week.

JOHANNESBURG - Musician and reality TV star Papa Penny has ditched the African National Congress (ANC) and taken up membership with former President Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.
He told Eyewitness News he is now an MK Party member and will be headlining the party’s manifesto launch on Saturday at Orlando Stadium.
The artist, who hails from Giyane and whose real name is Gezane Kobane, submitted his resignation as both a councillor and member of the ANC earlier this week.
He claims to have gained enemies in the governing party following a failed bid to become the leader of the ANC in Limpopo – but said he won’t bash the ANC in public.
“There is no wife or husband who can divorce without any problems, but I cannot spoil the ANC. I have to talk about my new home, that the problems between me and the people of the ANC.”
Papa Penny said he wants to focus on service delivery, claiming the MK Party will also give him an opportunity to unite the country.
While the artist said the MK Party is not just about an individual, he’s also defended the former president.
“No one is clean. If you want to go for who’s dirty - everybody is dirty. People need service delivery, we need [a strong] economy in South Africa, we need to bring people together, we have to unite South Africa, we have to clean the suffering people, the poor people in the streets.”
