Established in 1999, the Vodacom Foundation has played a significant role in advancing societal progress through its dedication to education and gender empowerment.
Over the years, they have collaborated with esteemed organisations to allocate more than R1.6 billion to various initiatives, positively impacting countless lives.
Transitioning from a charitable institution to a pivotal force for socio-economic advancement, the Foundation leverages its innovative mobile technology to drive meaningful change, particularly in education and gender empowerment.
Their strategic objectives include:
- Education ecosystems, focusing on all education levels; from early childhood development to schools and adult education
- Enhancing infrastructure
- Eliminating pit latrines
- Offering psychosocial support to students to address issues such as bullying and gender-based violence
- Fostering sustainable food security through the establishment of food gardens
Vodacom believes that digital technologies hold the potential to tackle significant humanitarian issues in South Africa.
