IEC completes lease agreements with landlords of voting stations ahead of polls

JOHANNESBURG - The Electoral Commission (IEC) has completed all lease agreements with the landlords of the voting stations for the upcoming elections.
The IEC has set up 23,292 poll stations across the country.
On Tuesday, the IEC gave an update on its state of readiness to administer the elections, which are now 14 days away.
Chief electoral officer, Sy Mamabolo, said that all logistical issues had been completed.
"Sixty-two percent of voting stations are schools, 9.7% percent are places of worship and the balance, 28%, included all other categories such as community halls and other municipal facilities. We are in the final stages of training the 202,000 voting officials who will discharge the responsibility of administering the electoral process in voting stations."
