JOHANNESBURG - City Power says it’s completed repairs to electricity infrastructure below the M1 double-decker bridge.

This after power cables were gutted by a fire on Workers’ Day.

As a result, some residents in the inner city were left without electricity.

The utility found that the fire was caused by acts of theft and vandalism.

Spokesperson Isaac Mangena said electricity would be fully restored to all the affected areas soon.

"This [Tuesday] morning, the team will be moving the load from some of the contingency measures that had been put in place such as interconnectors and a generator. That load will be moved back to the 88kV cable."
