JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng health department says its working to fast-track the process of recruiting medical staff to fill vacant posts at the Tembisa Hospital.
 
Significant positions, including that of CEO, have been left vacant at the facility, which serves many communities on the East Rand.
 
The department said the reasons for the exodus of staff included, resignations, staff members leaving to further their studies and health-related reasons.
 
Spokesperson Motalatale Modiba said it was important to fill these posts given the impact on service delivery.
 
"The department has already made significant progress in ensuring that the critical positions are filled, while others are being finalised as we speak."
