JOHANNESBURG - The Build One South Africa (BOSA) political party has joined calls for the downscaling of the Cabinet as it raises concerns over underperforming ministers.
Despite President Cyril Ramaphosa’s 2019 reduction of Cabinet from 36 ministries to 28, BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane said it was still bloated.
Speaking at the party's media briefing while campaigning at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Wednesday, Maimane said the Cabinet must be downsized to ten ministries.
"In a Cabinet of over 80 people, both ministers and deputies, your dilemma, in that instance, is that you end up spending on VIP protection and transporting these people back and forth."
Mmusi Maimane, leader of Build One South Africa, says the DA is fear mongering and using ‘swart gevaar’ tactics to campaign.
