CAPE TOWN - Prominent Cape Town attorney, William Booth, has described an attempt on his life in April 2020 as "extremely stressful".

Booth testified against alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack, and 14 others in the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday.

Modack and his co-accused face 124 charges related to various crimes, including the murder of top cop, Charl Kinnear, and the attempted murder of Booth.

On Tuesday, Booth told the court he had returned home after walking his dogs when the incident happened.

He said that he saw two men at the gate while he was opening the garage door of his Higgovale home.

Booth said that he then heard five popping sounds, which he soon realised were gunshots fired in his direction.

He told the court if it weren't for his wife's car, which had been parked in front of him, he would certainly have been shot.

Booth said after the five shots were fired, the suspects ran away.

Kauthar Brown, Ebrahim Deare and Riyaat Gesant, who all have links to the accused in the Modack matter, have since been sentenced for the attempt on Booth's life.

The trial continues.
