JOHANNESBURG - E-hailing company Bolt has blocked a driver accused of stabbing two female customers, saying it is investigating the matter.

The incident took place on Monday in Table View, Cape Town.

One of the women posted photographs and videos of the injuries she said that she and her companion suffered, which have been widely circulated.

It is alleged that the driver attacked them after refusing to drop them off at their destination.

Bolt said it was "deeply disturbed" by the incident, labelling it  "completely unacceptable".

The company said that the driver was immediately blocked from the platform, pending a "thorough investigation".

It also said it would cooperate fully with police and provide "any information that may lead to an arrest and conviction of the perpetrators".

THe company added that it took the safety of its passengers and drivers "very seriously", highlighting it had "zero tolerance for any violence that happens during or around a ride".
