CAPE TOWN - At least 500 people from Du Noon, will have to brave the cold Cape Town weather after their homes were destroyed by a devastating fire.

City officials said the blaze that ripped through the Doornbach informal settlement on Monday, destroyed at least 120 structures.

The municipality said that its disaster risk management teams were busy assessing the damage.

Spokesperson, Charlotte Powell, said that no deaths or injuries were reported.
 
"Eskom is on scene to address damaged electrical infrastructure. Disaster Risk Management has also activated Water and Sanitation and Solid Waste to clear the fire debris, and to attend to damaged city infrastructure."
