The ANC is deploying its full strength this week to campaign in KwaZulu-Natal, aiming to eliminate any opportunity for its political adversaries to challenge its narrow lead in the province on election day.

According to reports, the ruling party has dispatched its 80-member national executive committee to kickstart the week-long campaign.

EWN's Tshidi Madia has arrived in KwaZulu-Natal, one of the pivotal arenas for the ANC in the 2024 elections.

Ranked second in eligible voters after Gauteng, and with the ANC receiving fewer than two million votes in the last election cycle, she emphasises the need for them to intensify their efforts if they wish to retain power.

Adding to the ANC's challenge in KZN is the presence of the MK Party, led by the highly popular and supported Jacob Zuma.

Madia suggests that one of the ANC's weaknesses lies in their lack of focus on current issues and the struggles people are experiencing, instead emphasising their 30 years of democracy.

"Many, many factors are going to affect their outlook for the elections."

"Zuma remains quite likeable, quite popular."
