DURBAN - The eThekwini Municipality is expected to set up a war room that will deal with service delivery challenges.
Mayor Mxolisa Kaunda made the announcement during his State of City Address (SOCA) at the Durban ICC on Tuesday night.
In his address. Kaunda admitted the metro still battled with various service delivery issues, including water shortages, electricity challenges, ailing road infrastructure, and unkept parks.
The service delivery backlogs have resulted in disgruntled residents taking to the streets to voice their frustration, but Kaunda said they had a few ideas to better handle this.
"We are confident that the plans that we are presenting to you today [Tuesday], will bring practical solutions to service delivery issues."
He said one of the ideas was the war room aimed at addressing the delivery of services.
"The establishment of the service delivery war room, which is chaired by the premier, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, demonstrates that we are working with all spheres of government to deliver quality services to our residents."
