JOHANNESBURG - Political newcomer the Xiluva party has proposed that government limits the intake of foreign nationals to 10%.
The party, led by former Midvaal mayor Bongani Baloyi, has supported assertions suggesting immigrants are being prioritised for jobs.
Baloyi spoke about the party’s immigration policy during his election campaign in Soweto on Monday.

Limpopo Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba made headlines in 2022 when she boldly told illegal immigrants that they were straining the public healthcare system.
Adopting a similar stance, the Xiluva party said that undocumented foreign nationals shouldn’t receive free medical healthcare.
Baloyi said this wasn’t a xenophobic approach to dealing with illegal immigration but merely a ploy to tighten the existing legislation.
"This is to the detriment of South Africans. Foreigners who are illegal should not be receiving treatment from our primary facilities."
He said the African National Congress (ANC) government had failed to act against illegal immigration.
