JOHANNESBURG - The 15-man Proteas squad for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA in June has been announced.
Aiden Markram will lead the side that features two uncapped players, while wicketkeeper, Quinton de Kock, makes his return to the side after more than a year.
Seam bowler Ottniel Baartman and top order batter, Ryan Rickelton, have yet to represent the Proteas in the shortest format of the game.
The pair was included in the World Cup squad following outstanding performances in this year’s SA20, where Rickelton finished as the leading scorer with 530 runs and Baartman took 18 wickets in eight matches for defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
Notable absentees include Rassie van der Dussen and Matthew Breetzke, while Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Burger are travelling reserves.
De Kock is back in the team for what is expected to be his final bow with the Proteas and will lead an explosive batting line-up with the likes of Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen and Tristan Stubbs.
The Proteas will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka on 3 June.
