JOHANNESBURG - As the country's seventh democratic elections draw close, the justice, crime prevention and security cluster says courts will prioritise election-related crimes.
The security cluster gave an update on its state of readiness on Sunday, as South Africans are set to take to the polls in 31 days.
This is part of measures put in place to ensure a seamless election.
It's all systems go for different security personnel across the country, as South Africans will take to the polls in almost a month.
Defence Minister Thandi Modise said that prosecutors were ready to deal with crimes such as electoral fraud, corruption and the removal of campaign posters.
"We urge members of the public to report any crime related to elections to the nearest police station or IEC offices."
Modise has also assured the public that security measures would be taken to protect voting stations and other key infrastructure before, during and after the elections.
She said that the security cluster was working closely with the South African Weather Service to plan for any weather-related incidents.
