Rustenburg ward councillor shot dead

JOHANNESBURG - A ward councillor from the Photsaneng Village in Rustenburg has been shot dead.

Police said the woman was walking with her cousin on Friday night when four gunmen fired shots at her.

Police Spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone said the suspects fled the scene in a getaway car, and the motive for the shooting is unknown.

"The victim, who was allegedly shot below the left ear and forehead, was declared dead by Emergency and Medical Services. The motive of the incident is yet to be established, and investigations are underway. No arrests have been effected."
