DURBAN - As South Africa marks 30 years of democracy on Saturday, the African Transformation Movement (ATM) says this does not include most South Africans as they still have not obtained economic freedom.
Freedom Day is observed annually on 27 April.
Party leader, Vuyolwethu Zungula, said the country’s democracy was not based on the will of the people.
Speaking to Eyewitness News in Durban on Wednesday, he added that there first needed to be a change that would cater for ordinary citizens.
"The economy must be transformed because before 1994 it was structured in a manner that accommodated only the white minority, now this economy has opened just for a few black faces, it has not opened up to make sure that the majority of the black people do participate meaningfully."
