JOHANNESBURG - Commotion erupted outside the home of Johannesburg’s city manager, Floyd Brink, on Wednesday morning as the sheriff of the court attempted to serve him with a warrant of arrest.
The warrant relates to a legal matter between the city and a resident who’s disputing their utilities account.
The City of Johannesburg claims this is nothing more than frivolous attempts by dirty politicians to destroy Brink’s reputation.
“This attack on his person and character has now been orchestrated to embarrass and target him and his family and to create a public perception that the city manager is a suspect in a criminal matter,” said the City of Johannesburg mayoral spokesperson, Mlimandlela Ndamase.
He said the city hit back and launched an urgent application in court.
“The city has instructed its legal team to immediately lodge an urgent application to the court to stay the execution of the warrant, and will seek to prevent any further abuse of the legal system to harass officials of the city in the manner in which the city manager has been targeted.”
