JOHANNESBURG - The lawyer for the alleged gunman in the Senzo Meyiwa trial has dismissed evidence given by one of the investigators on DNA samples as hogwash and nonsense.
Sergeant Batho Mogola, who is part of the investigating team, remained under cross-examination for the third day in the Pretoria High Court.
On Wednesday, the lawyer for the third accused, advocate Charles Mnisi, questioned Mogola on her role in the investigation.
The defence questioned Mogola on the DNA tests that were run on the accused to determine if they were in the house on the day the football star was killed.
Five men are being tried for the Bafana Bafana captain’s 2014 murder.
The defence chose to highlight that senior forensic analyst captain Mmampshedi Masetla testified that the DNA tests done excluded all the accused.
But the State insists Masetla’s report showed that the men’s DNA could partially be found in some of the fields.
When Mthobisi Mncube’s lawyer rose to cross-examine Mogola, he also asked her about the DNA results.
Mogola said according to Brigadier Bongani Gininda, the results could also mean that there was not enough DNA available for a complete positive test.
