JOHANNESBURG - Electricity supply has been restored to the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg after two days without supply.
This has been confirmed by the Gauteng Health Department - which said repairs were completed on Tuesday morning.
On Sunday, the hospital was left in the dark due to a burnt feederboard at the Ridge Substation.
City Power confirmed it encountered unexpected technical and operational challenges that caused the prolonged power disruption.
"We obviously had to resort to emergency measures in terms of running the facility on generators, a well as scale down on elective procedures to make way for emergency procedures," said Gauteng Health spokesperson Motaletale Modiba.
