JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress (ANC) convenor in Ekurhuleni, Doctor Xhakaza, has revealed that the party was willing to share power with the Democratic Alliance (DA) to govern the city.
Xhakaza, who was elected as mayor a week ago, said the party approached its biggest rival proposing a coalition agreement.
He was speaking in Katlehong on Wednesday where 702 hosted its second election townhall.
Xhakaza said attempts to work with the DA were aimed at stabilising the municipality's leadership.
"We went to the DA and asked them to give us three people to form part of this leadership so that we are indeed a multi-party and they refused. So, you can't complain after we extended a hand to join the executive and you refused."
