CAPE TOWN - Popular Cape Town musician Craig Lucas and former Springboks prop Eddie Andrews have graduated from the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
The pair received their respective degrees from the institution on Wednesday.
Andrews, who is also Cape Town’s deputy mayor, graduated with a Bachelor of Administration Honours.
He shared how his academic journey started: "In 2006, I had a friend that still works here, and we had a foundation that we started, and whenever I walked here, I was inspired by the students, and I said to myself somewhere not in the too distant future, I will eventually come and study here and do my undergrad. That is essentially what happened in 2015. Immediately thereafter I enrolled for my Honours in B Admin, so here I am today.”
Craig Lucas graduated with a master’s degree in development studies and said he wants to pursue a PhD as soon as possible.
"At UWC, the staff are incredible, the lecturers are incredible, kind, [and] helpful. I feel like I made family, so this is not the last to see me at UWC, I'm sure. But today is about just enjoying the present moment and celebrating."
