CAPE TOWN - Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader Velenkosini Hlabisa said that only a miracle will return power to the African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal after next month’s elections.
In a stump speech delivered at the Cape Town Press Club on Tuesday, Hlabisa also dismissed Jacob Zuma's new MK Party as a threat to its support base in that province.
He believes the Multi-Party Charter partners will garner enough support to take control not only of KwaZulu-Natal but also Gauteng.
"It's only ANC members who are disgruntled who will be moving from supporting Ramaphosa to support Zuma because of anger amongst them. So in terms of being a threat, not at all."
While Hlabisa has welcomed political newcomers to join forces as an alternative government to the ANC, he said there were some parties the IFP would have to think carefully about before joining forces.
"We have experience of working with the EFF at a local government sphere. Problems are that they are unpredictable and they change tomorrow what they said today."
