JOHANNESBURG - Motorists may have to dig deeper into their pockets, once again, as petrol prices are expected to increase in May.
The Automobile Association says unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund highlights an increase of between 37 and 38 cents for both grades of petrol.
This will be the fourth consecutive hike in petrol prices since the beginning of the year.

While diesel is expected to decrease by 35 cents, petrol is expected to retail by between R25.15 cents and R25.50 cents next month.
The Automobile Association says this is due to fluctuating international product prices that have pushed oil prices up.
The association has warned that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East could have an impact on the country's currency - which will drive up fuel prices.
These prices are among the highest South African fuel prices have reached, with the country hitting a record high in petrol prices in 2022.
In July of that year, petrol breached the R26 mark for the first time ever.
