CAPE TOWN - Defence lawyers for alleged underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack and his co-accused continued to punch holes in the testimony of a State witness, a self-confessed hitman known only as "Mr A" in the Western Cape High Court on Wednesday.
The cross-examination of "Mr A" took centre stage in the high-profile case against Modack and 14 other co-accused who face more than 100 charges - some related to the murder of top cop Charl Kinnear.
Modack and his co-accused also face charges related to the murders of Nico Heerschap - the father of a Hawks officer bouncer Pitsou Falanga, tow truck driver Richard Joseph and the attempted murder of defence attorney William Booth.
Defence attorney Mohamed Sibda turned the spotlight on an alleged meeting between Mr A and Modack in August 2019.

Mr A previously told the court he met Modack at a petrol station in Stikland, where the alleged gang boss congratulated him for the murder of Heerschap in Mekbostrand in July 2019.
Sibda told the court Modack denies meeting with Mr A in Stikland, where they allegedly discussed doing more criminal activities together including the attempted murder of Booth in April 2020.
He said at the time Modack only travelled in a bullet-proof car that did not fit the description of the car in Mr A's version.
Sibda further told the court that Modack also claims he was with his family in Century City on the day the meeting was said to happen.
The trial continues on Thursday.
