JOHANNESBURG - Moja Love television presenter, Xolani Maphanga, has been granted R5,000 bail by the Soshanguve Magistrates Court.
On Tuesday, Maphanga, popularly known as “X”, appeared alongside his colleague facing charges of attempted murder and trespassing.
It's alleged the crew of TV programme Sizok’thola allegedly assaulted a woman suspected of drug dealing during the filming of a show in March.
The Soshanguve complainant claims she was beaten with a sjambok and shocked with a taser after the crew failed to find any drugs on her premises.
Maphanga and his co-accused have denied the allegations and requested to be released on bail, which the State did not oppose.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana: "After the bail was granted, the matter was postponed to 21 May 2024 for further investigations."
