Unemployed Gauteng residents urged to apply for UIF jobs programme
The UIF launched the 23 point R8 billion rand project earlier this month, with the first leg of applications kicking off in Gauteng from Saturday.

JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng government has urged unemployed people in the province to visit their nearest schools to apply for the UIF's labour activation programme.
The UIF launched the R23.8 billion project earlier this month, with the first leg of applications kicking off in Gauteng from Saturday.
This is part of the labour and employment department's efforts to ramp up employment in the country, as a staggering number of youth remain jobless.
The Gauteng government says residents in the province need to take their ID to the nearest schools to apply for jobs lined up in different departments in the province.
The labour activation programme is expected to employ nearly half a million people in the province, for a period of six months to three years.
The department will roll out the project in stages across the country over the coming month.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has assured residents that these job opportunities are not only reserved for people under 35-years-old, but every unemployed Gauteng resident.
