JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa said the party was looking into rolling out RDP houses in the form of flats across the country.

Ramaphosa said this was a cost-effective way to provide accommodation.

The ANC president was speaking at Cosmo City, west of Johannesburg,  on Saturday as part of the ruling party's election campaign activities.

He also went on a walkabout to see the newly built homes in the area that were recently handed over to some beneficiaries.

He had this to say to the community: "This is going to be the new wave as we move on and to do it on a more massive scale because we have seen that it works and we are able to save costs. We will also be able to closely monitor either the contracts or the tenders that should be executed in this regard."
