Award-winning author and journalist Melinda Ferguson confirms her book about the tragic love story of AKA and Anele Tembe is about to hit our bookshelves.

News of the book leaked on social media earlier this week on the third anniversary of Tembe’s passing.

“I have never worked harder on a book. I have never been more freaked out by a story... So here it is from the fire horse's mouth,” she shared in an announcement on Facebook.

“It's been a real journey to get this out. It nearly killed my own relationship. It's a story that broke my heart.”

Tembe passed away in 2021 after allegedly falling from the 10th floor of the Cape Town Pepperclub Hotel in the early hours of the morning.

AKA was shot and killed in an alleged hit in 2023 in Durban.

The description by NB Publishers reads:

“They'd been caught up in a whirlwind of toxic obsession, alleged substance abuse and violence.”
