Photo of iceberg which allegedly sunk the Titanic, resurfaces 112 years after crash

Clarence Ford speaks to Barbara Friedman about trending online topics. Skip to 6.00.

Friedman reports that a photograph of the Titanic is going viral because it was allegedly taken in 1912 by an undertaker who was apparently part of the team which helped retrieve bodies from sunken ship.

The image shows a large glacier above the surface of the north Atlantic, which is claimed to be the iceberg the Titanic crashed into, causing its demise.

It's further reported that the image was taken two days after the luxury liner struck an iceberg on her maiden voyage killing 1,522 people.

Friedman notes that the man who allegedly took the photo was a funeral director named, John Snow Jr, who worked for a funeral parlour at the time and had the image mounted on cardboard, titling it 'Titanitic'.

But that's not all: the newly unearthed photo of the iceberg that may have sank the Titanic 112 years ago, is up for auction by Henry Aldridge & Son Auctioneers of Devizes, Wiltshire, for an estimated price of £4,000 to £7,000 - about R 94,000 to R165,000.
