Popular Nigerian actor Junior Pope Odonwodo has died.
The National President of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, confirmed the 39-year-old's passing.
Pope and four other actors allegedly drowned after their boat capsized in the Anam River in Nigeria when returning from a film shoot.
On Wednesday, Rollas announced the actor was receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
However, early Thursday morning, Rollas confirmed that Junior Pop had passed away.
“It’s so so sad that our joy was shortlived. My first post was out of excitement when we noticed his tingling fingers…”
He goes on to say that two 'notable hospitals' attempted to revive Pope but it was to no avail.
Pope made his debut as an actor in Nollywood in 2006.
He leaves behind his wife and three children.
