JOHANNESBURG - The City of Tshwane has dismissed rumours of tap water being contaminated in the metro assuring residents that its water is safe to drink.
This follows a message circulated online cautioning Tshwane and Johannesburg residents from drinking tap water as it can give them typhoid fever.
The city says there is no need for people to panic as this is not true.
"The public is cautioned not to fall for this fake news, as there is no such a notice issued by the city. We urge the public to always be vigilant of bogus messages," said spokesperson Lindela Mashego.
