Despite the destruction of its 300-year-old heritage buildings, Blaauwkippen is grateful to report that there were no serious injuries or lives lost.
The estate reports that Sunday (7 April) was predominately spent managing the fire in the mill house and medallion, while battling the impact of fierce gale force winds.
Monday (8 April) morning was then dedicated to connecting and liaising with guests and staff, and assessing the extent of the damage.
Despite the loss, the spirit of Blaauwklippen remains undeterred as they prepare to rise from the ashes stronger than ever.
While rebuilding takes place, Blaauwklippen’s management are pleased to announce that the Tasting House, De Blaauwe Kitchen, market, bike park, and all other facilities will reopen to the public from today, Wednesday, 10 April.
Despite the buildings being destroyed, 'the Grande Dame of Blaauwklippen will rise again, more beautiful than ever', says the estate's management.
