JOHANNESBURG - Tshwane Emergency Services say an elderly woman has been taken to a place of safety following concerns of flooding near Soshanguve.

Localised flooding has been reported in parts of Tshwane and Johannesburg due to the current rains.

It's understood her family was worried her home in Marikana would be flooded, leaving her trapped.
 
Tshwane EMS spokesperson Charles Mabaso: "The family feared that the shack is always flooded [in such weather conditions], and the elderly woman has a medical condition. Apparently, she had been amputated not so long ago. Gauteng emergency services assisted with the removal of the elderly woman."
