JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Health Department has confirmed that phone lines that were disconnected in some health facilities were now operational.
This comes as eleven hospitals and over 30 clinics were inaccessible as a result of outstanding debt to Telkom of close to R3 million.
Last month, the department provided residents with alternative numbers as a temporary measure.
The department said that only one Carletonville district hospital was still affected following the theft of copper cables.
Spokesperson Motatale Modiba: "In the meantime, the public is urged to continue using the alternative contact numbers to communicate with Carletonville District Hospital until the issue is resolved."
